Remedial Students' Perceptions: Pre-College Decision Making, Satisfaction with the Freshman Year, and Self-Perceptions of Academic Abilities.
Fielstein, Lynda L.; Bush, Lauren K.
Journal of the First-Year Experience & Students in Transition, v10 n2 p41-55 1998
A survey of 196 freshmen seeking to identify noncognitive variables influencing pre-college decision making, satisfaction with the freshman experience, and academic confidence found that academically underprepared students were older, went to college later, reported more satisfaction with academic advising, and were less accepting of American College Testing (ACT) scores as valid measures of academic abilities. Further research is recommended. (Author/MSE)
