The Graduation Efficiency Index: Validity and Use as an Accountability and Research Measure.
Gillmore, Gerald M.; Hoffman, Phillip H.
Research in Higher Education, v38 n6 p677-98 Dec 1997
A graduation efficiency index for colleges and universities is computed by subtracting transfer credits from minimum degree credit requirements, dividing remainder by the sum of a student's enrollment census day credits. Analysis of results for University of Washington bachelor's degree recipients, show nontransfers graduated with more efficiency than transfers, and B.A. recipients with more efficiency than B.S. recipients.
