Seeing Things Differently: A Study of Women Participating in Leadership Training within a Community Development Programme.
Petelo, Lorraine
New Zealand Journal of Adult Learning, v24 n2 p39-72 Oct 1996
Twenty-three in-depth interviews with three women involved in leadership training and three "frentors" (mentor/supervisor/friend) revealed that issues of gender, ethnicity, and class affected their participation in training. The researcher faced several dilemmas: (1) having prior close connections with the interviewees; (2) disapproval of the term and concept "frentor" by a research committee; and (3) withdrawal of some comments by one interviewee.
