Demands for greater accountability and the example of business investment in training demonstrate the importance of developing scholarship in new faculty. In the Faculty Scholars Program at one university, new staff learn about institutional culture, mentoring, scholarship, research policies and procedures, proposal writing, funding sources, and other topics that support their development.
