Effects of Sampling Context on the Expressive Language of Children and Adolescents with Mental Retardation.
Abbeduto, Leonard; And Others
Mental Retardation, v33 n5 p279-88 Oct 1995
Conversational and narrative language samples were elicited from 16 school-age individuals with mental retardation and 16 typically developing children matched for mental age. Analysis demonstrated that both groups produced more syntactically complex language during narration, whereas they were more talkative during conversation. Results support the use of both conversational and narrative contexts when evaluating expressive language. (Author/DB)
