By examining 87 futuristic articles published between 1919 and 1961 in American library or related journals, and 6 professional monographs within the same time span, the accuracy of forecasting library futures is assessed. The effects of war, the economy, and technology on librarians' ideas of the future are discussed, and trends in predictions are identified. (AEF)
