Consultants' Use of Jargon during Intervention Presentation: An Evaluation of Presentation Modality and Type of Intervention.
Hyatt, Susan P.; Tingstrom, Daniel H.
School Psychology Quarterly, v8 n2 p99-109 Sum 1993
Examined influence of behavioral jargon on elementary school teachers' (n=94) acceptance of two behavioral interventions, one reinforcement-based (DRI) and one punishment-based (time-out) within context of consultation analogue. Overall, DRI received significantly higher acceptability ratings from teachers than did time-out, although ratings of time-out were significantly higher when described in behavioral jargon.
