Children's Closeness to Father as Reported by Mothers, Sons and Daughters: Evaluating Subjective Assessments with the Rasch Model.
Smith, Herbert L.; Morgan, S. Philip
Journal of Family Issues, v15 n1 p3-29 Mar 1994
Examined mothers' and children's reports of closeness to fathers using approach for reconciling discrepant survey responses. Findings suggest that closeness has entirely different meaning when fathers are resident than when they are nonresident. Meaning did not appear to vary when resident father was stepfather or whether focal child was son or daughter. (Author/NB)
