A study to examine the expectations of senior nursing undergraduates (n=23) of hospital nursing practice concluded that (1) students were not naive about the reality of practice; (2) most felt fairly powerless; (3) they were committed to respect for clients; (4) they experienced guilt; and (5) they were disappointed when nurses did not stand up for patients.
