The results of an assessment of the education departments in four-year colleges (n=76) are presented. Changes in staff and budget for science teacher education, budgets, semester hours required in both elementary and secondary teacher education programs, average number of science teacher graduates in elementary and secondary programs, and number of science courses offered in the major disciplines are discussed.
