Investigated identity and life-span perceptions of 37 chronic mental patients, aged 23 to 64 years of age. Findings from life drawing projective technique revealed age differences in adaptation of identity to life experiences associated with mental illness. Younger subjects were more likely to adopt patient identity; older subjects adapted to their illness through denial. (Author/NB)
