Attitudes towards Foreign Language Learning in Protestant and Catholic Schools in Northern Ireland.
Loulidi, Rafik
Language, Culture and Curriculum, v3 n3 p227-38 1990
Describes a study of 18-year-old Roman Catholic and Protestant students in Northern Ireland, undertaken to determine differences between the 2 religious groups regarding foreign language learning. Although both groups showed interest and relatively positive attitudes toward learning foreign languages, Catholic children appeared to be more motivated by environmental factors such as parental encouragement.
