Content-Based ESL in a Sheltered Psychology Course: Input, Output and Outcomes.
Burger, Sandra
TESL Canada Journal, v6 n2 p45-59 Mar 1989
Compared the writing skills of psychology students enrolled in a sheltered content-area English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) writing course with those of ESL psychology students enrolled in a course with more traditional instruction. Both groups gained in language proficiency; however, the findings suggest that focussed reading rather than actual writing may have accounted for gains in writing skills. (CB)
