Interviews conducted with adolescents from 12 to 17 years old and their parents revealed adolescent drinking can be explained by parental models of drinking behavior. Parental socialization factors, particularly support and to a lesser degree control, were also shown to have an effect on the development of adolescent drinking behaviors. (Author/ABL)
