The Performance-Based/Developmental Debate About Student Teaching Supervision: A Typology and Tentative Resolution.
Housego, B. E. J.; Grimmett, P. P.
Alberta Journal of Educational Research, v29 n4 p319-37 Dec 1983
The dichotomy between two concerns of student teaching supervision (emphasis on interpersonal helping relationship versus task-oriented, performance-based approach) is examined. Suggests dichotomy is fallacious, presents a typology of approaches, maintains student teaching supervision is a teaching process calling for supervisor variability of approach and flexibility in interactive behaviors.
