The Radio-Assisted Teaching in the Elementary Schools (RATES) project conducted a two-year exploratory study to assess the effectiveness of tape-assisted instruction in large elementary school classes in the Philippines. Subjects were students in grades four-six studying communication arts in Pilipino, their native language. Eight references are listed. (Author/LLS)
