The Temporal Element in the Perceived Lack of Aspiration in Black Youth
Pennington, Dorothy L.
Journal of Afro-American Issues, 4, 1, 215-234, W 76
Argues that the different set of temporal norms governing the behavior of blacks is attributable to at least two ascertainable causes: (1) a carry over of the traditional West African concept of time in which the cosmology and ontological hierarchy of existence dictated temporal behaviors much different from the Westernized concept of time; and (2) the existential condition of blacks in America.
