Benefits of Sport Skills Instruction on the Physical and Mental Well-Being of Preschoolers
Maria Fernanda Morones Gomez; Adam King; Willie Leung
Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance, v96 n1 p71-72 2025
Sport activities (SA) and physical education (PE) play a crucial role in education by fostering physical skills, competitiveness, and self-confidence among students (Garibaldi & Russell, 2021). Preschool education is fundamental to a child's holistic development, strengthening physical activity and promoting social education (Pérez-Ordás et al., 2021). Current literature found that participation in sports could lead to boosts in self-awareness and confidence among preschoolers (Narzikulovich, 2022). However, there is a significant gap in integrating SA into preschool curricula to enhance teaching quality and student interest (Pasichnyk et al., 2021). A study by Wang et al. (2023) aimed to examine the impact of SA and the teaching of sport skills in PE on the physical and mental development, as well as comprehensive learning ability, of preschoolers.
