Faculty Idea Swap: An Open Space for Faculty Connection

In this pilot study, eight faculty members participated in at least one online Open Space Technology participatory meeting and provided feedback. Each meeting had a predetermined central theme. Participants chose one or more sub-topics to discuss in a small group followed by a whole group recap. Results indicated that faculty members reported the event was valuable (average rating was 9.38/10). Open-ended questions indicated by participating in the event, faculty experienced dialogue and connection, a positive environment, and gained practical content. Implications for building faculty connection during professional development are discussed.
