Is Your State PREPaREd?
Stephen E. Brock
Communique, v53 n4 p31-34 2024
The "PREPaRE School Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training Curriculum" is considered by its developers to be the first and only comprehensive, internationally available curriculum developed by school psychologists with firsthand experience and training in school crisis preparedness. It includes two separate yet complementary workshops--(1) a 1-day session titled "Comprehensive School Safety Planning: Prevention Through Recovery," also known as Workshop 1 (WS1; Reeves et al., 2019); and (2) a 2-day workshop titled "Mental Health Crisis Intervention: Responding to an Acute Traumatic Stressor in Schools," also known as Workshop 2 (WS2; Brock & Reeves, 2019). The resource, now in its third edition, has been disseminated in most U.S. states and territories. This article summarizes where PREPaRE-trained educators can be found in the world.
