Creating a Student-Centered Campus-Wide Culture That Supports Historically and Currently Marginalized Students
Change: The Magazine of Higher Learning, v56 n5 p22-30 2024
Postsecondary institutions generally exist with student and academic affairs working in silos, which creates a fragmented experience for students. Reduced state and federal funding mean that institutions cannot invest in costly new programs or initiatives. The article provides a research-informed approach with practical advice about how institutions can create a student-centered campus-wide culture. Creating more collaborative and cross-functional spaces will enable faculty, staff, and leadership campus-wide to explore new policies, practices, and structures that allow for students to experience holistic forms of support.
