Peer Support Communities: Expanding the Continuum of Care in Colleges
Lindsey Tardif; Marcella D. Stark
Journal of College Student Mental Health, v38 n3 p415-426 2024
In response to an unprecedented demand for services, college counseling centers have been forced to innovate new strategies to meet student demand and protect staff from burnout. One private university developed a unique Comprehensive Collaborative Care Model. Drawing on the tradition of collegiate recovery communities, this model includes the use of Peer Support Communities (PSCs). This brief discusses the structure of PSCs, as well as the positive response from both students and staff.
