Chemistry education worldwide has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic over the past few years. Traditional events needed to be conducted online so that group activities could continue. This study examines and explores student attitudes toward chemistry as well as their satisfaction with online small-scale chemistry instruction after participating in the Online National Science Week 2021 event. Mixed method research using Quan-qual mixed method design was used. Data were collected from a total of 103 participants, all of whom were registered participants in an online, small-scale chemistry activity. Eighty-three participants (80.58%) responded to the questionnaire, including 34 middle school students, 30 high school students, and 19 student teachers. Research instruments consisted of: (1) a 39-statement form measuring attitudes toward chemistry on a five-point Likert scale, and (2) three questions measuring satisfaction toward online small-scale chemistry instruction, also on a five-point Likert scale, along with an open question for additional input. The research found that high school students and student teachers held positive attitudes towards chemistry, while middle school students expressed only moderate levels of positivity. All three groups expressed positive satisfaction towards the online small-scale chemistry instruction, expressing feelings of gratitude and joy. As a number of academic activities had to be cancelled or postponed during the pandemic, this study attempted to find appropriate and effective ways to promote continued youth learning during this challenging educational period. The research discussed limitations of online learning, particularly in practical chemistry education, the opportunities for learning, and the effective roles of online learning facilitators. Online small scale activities during the pandemic encouraged effort among the students to maintain positive attitudes towards Chemistry.
