A Critical Oversight: International Students' Racial Consciousness and Agency in U.S. Higher Education
About Campus, v28 n6 p55-60 2024
Issues of race and racism in U.S. higher education often neglect the experiences of international students (Yao et al., 2019). In this article, the author advocates for more intentional institutional attention to and support for international students' development of critical consciousness and agency regarding issues of race and racism, as they can potentially serve as powerful transnational agents in antiracism and social justice movements. In what follows, the author will further elaborate on the three main reasons why such targeted attention and support are essential.
