Mindful Breathing: A Low-Intensity Behavior Strategy for Students with Behavioral Challenges
Aundrea McFall; Kristine Jolivette
Preventing School Failure, v68 n1 p1-7 2024
Students eligible for special education services for learning disabilities and emotional and behavior disorders often display characteristics that create obstacles to their learning. Mindful breathing, a mindfulness technique, can help students with these disabilities regulate their attention, thoughts, and emotions during academic instruction. Advantages of mindful breathing, three examples of mindful breathing strategies, and suggestions for implementing mindful breathing in the classroom are discussed.
