Quantity of Video Analysis Positively Correlated with Teacher Performance
Kirsten Koetje
Teacher Education Quarterly, v50 n3 p97-121 2023
The researcher analyzed data from two online cohorts of preservice teachers at a liberal arts university. The researcher conducted a correlational analysis to determine if the quantity of video analysis conducted during the educator preparation program predicted performance on the national Educative Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA). The total quantity of video analysis, both of "self" and of "others," resulted in a statistically significant positive correlation with total edTPA scores, r = 0.34, p = 0.02, and accounted for 11.7% of the variance in edTPA scores, R[superscript 2] = 0.117, p = 0.017. Disaggregated data showed significant positive correlations with the quantity of "others'" videos interns analyzed, particularly with edTPA Task 3: Assessment, r = 0.335, p < 0.05.
