In this article, the author revisits and expands on the insights shared during a panel discussion at the 2022 Assessment Institute, with a focus on exploring and perhaps challenging thinking around what assessment is, how this work is viewed by many stakeholders critical to the assessment process, and the "feast or famine" conditions that continue at many institutions where accreditation remains the primary driver/influencer of the work that happens in this space.
