Utilizing Online Collaborative Technology to Promote Active Learning in Nursing Students
Sailsman, Sonique
Quarterly Review of Distance Education, v23 n1 p91-93 2022
Fostering student engagement online can be significantly more challenging than in the traditional classroom, and students are often distracted or lack the motivation to participate in the planned class activities. Faculty are encouraged to utilize various online collaborative tools to promote active learning. This article explores Zoom and Google Docs to engage students in peer-to-peer online interaction. Implementing this teaching strategy required detailed preplanning and preparation by faculty. This teaching strategy can be utilized with different learning styles and multiple course assignments, reducing feelings of isolation and fostering comfort with the course material.
