A Guiding Framework for Teacher Formation: Integrating Best and Deep Practices
Michalec, Paul; Newburgh, Katherine
Curriculum and Teaching Dialogue, v24 n1-2 p173-189 2022
Teacher growth and development are heavily focused on best practices, the technical aspects of teaching, often at the exclusion of deep practices, the heart-focused dimensions of teaching. Using an action research methodology, researchers offer a practical framework for coaching teachers on ways to develop the deep practices that underscore the call to teach. The proposed model of teacher formation combines best and deep practices to illuminate broader themes of teacher development while honoring the individual and often unexpected path of teacher growth.
