Bringing College into High Schools: Bard's High School Early Colleges Offer a Model for Students to Earn an Associate Degree by the End of 12th Grade
D'Orio, Wayne
Education Next, v22 n3 p14-21 Sum 2022
Early colleges can play a key role in bridging the gap between high school and higher education. In addition to allowing students to earn transferrable college credits for free, these schools boost students' chances of applying to and earning a college degree. This pertains especially to students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education, such as students of color, low-income students, and first-generation college goers. This article examines the Bard High School Early Colleges from idea to reality, through successes and obstacles.
