Although some people may shudder at the thought of "research," in fact everyone that directs a communication center uses concepts and frameworks to create, develop, and operate those centers. In this inaugural issue of the "Communication Center Journal," Kathleen Turner considers the value of research to communication center directors' common endeavors and suggests several areas of investigation that would yield benefits.
