Disclosing Race and Racism: The Imperative and Practices of Race-Situated Connoisseurship
Meister, Tara
Curriculum and Teaching Dialogue, v23 n1-2 p73-87 2021
Educational Criticism and Connoisseurship (Ed Crit) research offers opportunities to perceive everyday events, interactions, pedagogies, and spaces through fresh perception, leaning into a connoisseur's experiences and stance in the world. In this conceptual essay, I provide theoretical backing for my assertion that connoisseurs ought to grapple with their racial positioning and account for the U.S.'s white supremacist society in their research. Thus, I propose additions to the Ed Crit methodology to build race-situated connoisseurship.
