This study explores factors that contribute to college students' subjective well-being (SWB). Using the experience sampling method, the investigators collected data from an urban university in a mid-western state in the United States. We analyzed 963 experience sampling forms from 21 college students. Results showed that participants' SWB was higher when they were with others than when they were alone. With regard to social contexts, being with family and being with friends were also positively associated with SWB. Participants reported significantly higher SWB when they were engaged in active leisure and lower SWB when they were involved in learning activities.
