Using Vision Boards to Reflect on Relevant Experiences and Envision Ideal Futures
College Teaching, v69 n4 p231-232 2021
In discussion-oriented courses, students often struggle to think of relevant stories and examples to share, which can impede their learning. Creating and presenting vision boards enables students to reflect on their personal, academic, and professional experiences and envision their ideal futures. By compiling text, photographs, clip art, and logos into a single PowerPoint slide and summarizing the content via oral presentation or written response, students can appreciate their own and their classmates' backgrounds and goals. Using vision boards also allows instructors to identify areas of similarity and difference among students and better tailor and facilitate discussion with their classes.
