This systematic review of literature seeks to understand the extent to which researchers study the teaching and learning of students with disabilities utilizing cultural-historical activity theory (CHAT). The authors examine how CHAT-based studies defined disability and the overall contributions of this body of research. This article describes CHAT and its potential contributions to disability research and special education.
