Perhaps the greatest tragedy to come from COVID-related distance learning would be "not" learning from this experience to improve teaching when teachers and students physically return to classrooms. A robust discussion of the evidence of success during this pandemic school could be a major boost to the process of teaching and learning. This brief article provides three early examples of evidence of success that occurred in virtual and hybrid classrooms during the pandemic. It concludes that now is the time, as schools round the corner of COVID-era teaching, for educators to keep learning logs of what went well, create collaborative dialogues in the class, use triage principles to listen carefully to students' learning, and build an evidence base of successful practices.
