In an age of inequity, injustice, and ambiguity, it may be that those who cannot reframe and unframe the past through a critical lens of the present will be "condemned to repeat it", thus preventing the possibility of future transformation (Kantawala, in press). Over the past year, George Floyd's death, other recent events of police brutality, and more than 3,800 instances of discrimination against Asian Americans vividly capture the continuation of a long and painful history of anti-Black and anti-Asian American racism within the backdrop of the pandemic (Chow, 2020; Nuyen, 2021). Often assumed to be an upwardly mobile model minority, Asian Americans are frequently aggressively condemned for larger societal problems, with their attackers safeguarded by institutional forces. Structural racism has become the norm. Pondering on the concept of communities of practice and histories of racial injustice, the author asks educators and colleagues, to consider the question: As educators today, can we make a collective change to bend the long arc of history toward justice?
