Johnson, Wendi L.; Skinner, Amy
Communique, v49 n7 p1, 31-33 May 2021
Navigating the transition to motherhood has unique challenges for any new mom. The difficulties are often intermixed with immense joy and the excitement of new life, which can create quite the roller coaster of emotions. When also working full-time as a school psychologist, this constant pull between children's needs and work demands often results in mental exhaustion and feelings of not "being enough" for everyone. This article discusses the transitioning to new motherhood, the benefits and challenges of motherhood as a school psychologist, and balancing roles as a mother and a school psychologist.
