Looking Back and Looking Forward: Educational Drama in Chinese Language Arts Education

For the last few decades there has been an increased growth for practice in Educational Drama in China. This pedagogical approach has caught the attention of Chinese language arts educators, who teach Chinese as a first language. Recent research points to how these Chinese language arts educators recognize drama as a positive and effective medium for learning language and literature. By considering and analyzing literature in the field, the authors of this article shed light on ways drama is being introduced in Chinese language arts classrooms in Mainland China, as well as provide insights on its history and challenges.
