Ridha, Syahrul; Kamil, Puspita Annaba
Journal of Geography, v120 n2 p72-82 2021
This study discusses the application of geospatial technology in learning geography in Indonesia in terms of concepts, curriculum, and implementation. The application of geospatial technology in learning geography in Indonesia has been integrated into the national curriculum. This can be seen from the content of components of spatial thinking in the basic competencies of knowledge and basic competencies of skills. However, there are still some obstacles to the implementation of geospatial technology, such as the lack of facilities for learning geospatial technology. It is indicated by the absence of GIS software in computer laboratories. Also, geography teachers are less able to use geospatial technology due to a lack of training in the use of geospatial technology. Therefore, the synergy between the government and schools is needed to enhance the application of geospatial technology by the objectives of the geography curriculum.
