An Examination of Children's Literature Scholarship on Religion
DeWalt, Lora
Journal of Children's Literature, v44 n1 p21-32 Spr 2018
Building on the work of children's literature scholars who are thinking about the intersection of religion and children's literature (Brewbaker, 1983; Dávila, 2015), the author conducted a literature review with two guiding research questions. What methodologies have children's literature scholars used to research religion in texts for young people? What are children's literature scholars finding about religion in books for young people? Findings reveal that three major themes were significant: inclusion, representation, and avoidance.
