Reimagining the Study of Higher Education: Generous Thinking, Chaos, and Order in a Low Consensus Field
Renn, Kristen A.
Review of Higher Education, v43 n4 p917-934 Sum 2020
In this article, taken from the 2019 ASHE Presidential address, Kristen A. Renn argues that to stay relevant and also to influence the direction of postsecondary education, there must be engagement in the will to reimagine the study of higher education. She discusses the challenges and opportunities for the future bound up in the fact that higher education scholarship is a low consensus field of research and application, and proposes two ways of thinking about how this low consensus may be approached in ways that can help reimagine the study of higher education.
