We Came to Colorado: Third Graders Inquire into the Past to Honor Their Present
Sell, Corey R.; Schmaltz, Jennie; Hartman, Stephanie
Social Studies and the Young Learner, v30 n3 p26-31 Jan-Feb 2018
A typical social studies lesson for elementary students often includes the memorization of facts and dates, but lacks the inquiry-based instruction that could promote purposeful engagement with historical sources. In this social studies learning experience, framed in the tenets of transcaring and the C3 Framework, students actively and meaningfully engaged with historical content to create accounts of the past.
