Chakaryan, Hasmik; Laux, John
International Journal for the Advancement of Counselling, v41 n3 p376-388 Sep 2019
This article addresses the lack of counseling programs and professionals in Armenia, offering possible reasons and solutions. The historical and cultural framework presented represents the context within which the current mental health state of Armenians are considered. The authors propose founding a post-graduate program in counseling as a response to evident needs. The discussion includes future implications for counseling professionals who attempt to internationalize counselor education and aim to work cross-culturally, both as educators and as clinicians.
