The Utilization of an Electronic Data Collection System to Assess Professional Practice in School Social Work
Harrison, Kimberly; Harrison, Richard; Ward, Julie; Amin, Akshaya
School Social Work Journal, v42 n2 p1-19 Spr 2018
During the 2014-2015 school year, a mixed-methods study was conducted in a Midwestern urban school district with twenty-five school social workers to assess professional practice utilizing an electronic data system. Given the emphasis in the literature on mandates for school social workers to be actively engaged in positive behavior support and response to intervention, the authors gathered a year of data on school social work activities, which were objectively defined and measured and statistically analyzed through the data program across school social work standards of the National Association of Social Work; district activities; and tier 1, 2, and 3 levels of practice. Data regarding the findings and perceptions of the school social workers, along with implications for future school social work practice, will be presented.
