Application of Person-Centered Approaches to Critical Quantitative Research: Exploring Inequities in College Financing Strategies
Malcom-Piqueux, Lindsey
New Directions for Institutional Research, n163 p59-73 2014
This chapter discusses the utility of person-centered approaches to critical quantitative researchers. These techniques, which identify groups of individuals who share similar attributes, experiences, or outcomes, are contrasted with more commonly used variable-centered approaches. An illustrative example of a latent class analysis of the college financing strategies of a nationally representative sample of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics bachelor's degree holders is presented.
