Cultivating the Understanding of a Catholic University's Mission and the Principles of Catholic Social Teaching through a Faculty Service-Learning Experience
Guiry, Michael
Journal of Catholic Higher Education, v31 n2 p233-251 Sum 2012
The challenge for faculty teaching in Catholic business schools is how to integrate the University's mission and identity as well as the principles of Catholic Social Teaching (CST) into business school courses. Such integration is necessary if Catholic business schools are to provide students with a unique educational experience. This article discusses how one faculty member, through service learning experiences within impoverished rural villages in East Africa, came to understand both the University's mission and CST.
