An In-Depth Look at RACE: Creating a Public Relations Plan
Luttrell, Regina
Communication Teacher, v27 n2 p104-110 2013
This article describes an activity in which students will understand, analyze, and apply the principles learned in the RACE process (research, action, communication, and evaluation). Students should have the ability to identify the four-step public relations planning process and ultimately create a public relations plan. This two-week activity is beneficial in that (1) the assignment enables students to gain a solid understanding of the four-step PR planning process, and to create an effective PR campaign; (2) it teaches students how to think like PR practitioners, so that hopefully one day they will become successful practitioners themselves; and (3) this exercise is the foundation for all that students learn in an Introduction to PR course. A list of references and suggested readings is included.
