A Quilt of Many Colors
Masse, Don
Arts & Activities, v152 n2 p32-33 Oct 2012
The author discovered artist Eleanor McCain's work on "Dear Ada," an art blog he follows. McCain makes brightly colored art quilts using various rectangles and squares. She creates visual "pop" by using these shapes in a variety of sizes and bright colors. There is an interesting spatial "push and pull" that happens when looking at her quilts. Because of the many pieces that go into her quilt designs, a project based on McCain's work would be a terrific collaborative class project. In this article, the author shares how his students made their own quilts based on McCain's work.
