The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore public school teachers' perceptions of the impact of COVID-19 on their profession and related activities, specifically delivery of instruction, preparation and planning, and desires to leave the profession of teaching. Through semi-structured interviews, three research questions guided the study of teachers' perceptions experienced during the 2020-2022 academic year. Participant's transcribed interviews were coded and analyzed for commonalities of themes and patterns that emerged. The findings supported previous research in which participants experienced challenges with technology, the lack of resources, and added work obligations. The results also indicated that participants felt inadequate and ineffective when trying to meet the needs of their students. Moreover, participants experienced undue stress while teaching through a pandemic and expressed serious concerns about their health. The added stress and concern caused participants to ponder leaving the profession. Implications for practice derived from this study include district leaders establishing an action plan with clear policies for remote teaching and adopting technology standards for remote teaching along with necessary equipment. It was also noted that training allowing teachers to offer remote teaching in the future should be a necessity.
